For over a decade, April Lynn James has been inspiring others through her innovative creative art projects. She is the founder of the opera company, The Maria Antonia Project and the designer of April plus Madison, a Wonderland-Inspired Art and Poetry Project that includes whimsical rhymes composed and declaimed by her guardian angel, Madison Hatta, Sonneteer.
Her groundbreaking research in the area of Women in Music helped her curate In Her Own Hand: Operas Composed by Women 1625-1913 and Women Composing for Marian Anderson. April had the distinguished honor of studying abroad in Dresden, Germany, courtesy of a DAAD Fellowship, where she researched the music and life of Maria Antonia, Electress of Saxony.
She is a baroque dance instructor, researcher and choreographer, and enjoys reconstructing Beauchamps-Feuillet notated dances as well as creating new 18th-century style ones.
April earned her PhD in Music from Harvard University. She is a speaker, author, and singer passionate about art and spirituality.
