​I like to immerse myself in my research. My study of baroque music was a cultural immersion project to which an exploration of the dances, art and cities associated with my favorite composers was essential.

​

My dissertation was, and is, the first book-length, English-language exploration of the music and life of Maria Antonia, Electress of Saxony. NYPL has a hard copy, though you can also find it online through ProQuest. I founded and ran my own opera company, the Maria Antonia Project, through which I sought to get my research on operas composed by women out of the archives and onto the world's stages. My voice teachers have included Marni Nixon.

Over the years, my work has been supported by such organizations as Creative Capital, the Field, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, the NY State Alliance for Arts Education, and the Open Meadows Foundation. Specific fellowships and grants have included:
